81mm mortar mission.  From amount of smoke, attitude of crew, probably a long-range miss- ion.  Tube oriented south, in direction of Co Roc Mountain in Laos.  Lots of rocket sites in that direction.  Most of the time conditions or time did not allow us the luxury of plugging our ears, and if you did, couldn't hear incoming.
