81mm mortar crew preparing to fire marking round for close air support (CAS) mission.  Loader, LCpl. Edward Woolverton, is holding a white phosphorus (WP) round which he will drop down the tube when the gunner, LCpl. Dwight "Butch" Brown, has completed sighting adjustments.

One of Mike's 60mm mortar crews in action.  Gunner is sighting on target using 'direct lay' technique (where he can see target with sight).  Loader will drop round when gunner is ready.  Ammo man in background is breaking out more rounds.
