the radio operator for 2nd Platoon, India Company commanded by 2ndLt.
Michael Thomas. This was taken Christmas Day 1967 outside the perimeter
of Khe Sanh Combat Base.

Sgt. Daniel H. Lloyd of 2nd Platoon, India Company.
His men gave him the nickname of "Sergeant Ugly" which he holds dear to
this day. Taken also on Christmas Day outside the perimeter of Khe Sanh
Combat Base.

Aware that he was going to Hill 881S the next day
(Dec. 26, 1967), Sgt. Lloyd gathered what he thought was needed for a short
stay. Had he known then it would be 113 days he may have taken more.

A UH-34 from HMM-?? lands
on Hill 881S. Marines are standing around waiting on it to
arrive means the Siege of Khe Sanh and Hill 881S has not begun.

It is possible that an Army
CH-47 had dropped a large quantity of artiller/mortar rounds at this one
spot. The UH-34 may be redistributing the ammunition to various locations
on 881S.
