While looking at the photo section of 1970, pg. 16,
#2 and #3 from top, narrative states it was Pig Harris.
This was an HMM-161 bird which was turning at the base of the Marble Tower
and facing west. The two Navy UH-46 pilots had their aircraft parked
next to the concrete revetment which was due east of the 161 bird.
The Navy boys picked up the nose of their 46 and started backing up when
they hit the parked 161 bird. The copilot w/Harris was Lt. Dave Sadler.
Dave was the student in T-28s during carrier quals off the USS Lexington
who rolled it in on takeoff and was out of the cockpit and on the wing
before the T-28 sunk. He later went to a recruiting desk in Wash.
DC after his Nam tour. I remember Dave just being in total
shock and amazement at what happened as he looked at his broken 46 sitting
there. It was quite a sight.
