Confirm this with other folks from the the squadron circa 1964 but, if memory serves, I'm pretty sure that February 10, 1964 was the first time the squadron took hostile fire ( it was a multi aircraft airlift; can't remember the name of the LZ).

Warren R. Smith has reviewed a diary he maintained and provides the following entries:
Feb 1 "Went out on YK 20 today and blew the primary servo after lifting off from the first outpost. We were hauling rice and veg. Received no fire. Went to the club in evening. Col's plane was hit today".
Feb 3 "Went on a supply run to an outpost and picked up some troops. Rained all day. Stand by duty section on alert down at the line. Had another plane hit today through the blade. Had hell of a fight up north with the UH-1Bs and T-28s clobbering the VC. Our planes brought back the dead and wounded friendly troops. Floors of the planes covered with blood".
This is an important date. Can others confirm?
Please advise.
