With all of LCpl. Larry Henderson's friends in the
Army Special Forces, we always knew if we went down they would come to
get us in force. If you haven't already read the account of Larry
going AWOL and then jumping out of a DC-3, you

Capt. Jack Woodmansee, otherwise known as "Dragon
Six," was the Commanding Officer of the U.S. Army gun ship squadron that
provided superior support to our air crews. The mission to Do Xa
has instigated a quest to upgrade his inappropriate award for valor on
27 April 1964. Read about Do Xa and our quest
to upgrade a Single Mission Air Medal to the "appropriate"
recognition for his valiant actions.

"Dragon Flight's" parent organization suggested that
other Army UH-1B crews and aircraft support the second day of Do Xa.
LtCol. Lavoy said, "Thanks, but I want Jack and his air crews to support
us". "Dragon Flight" repaired their UH-1Bs and were on site for the
28 April conclusion of Do Xa.

GySgt. Scroggs' C-47 "Gooney Bird" made flights all
over Southeast Asia. Often it returned to Da Nang on one engine.
It was instrumental in emergency resupply of ammunition for the Do
Xa mission.
