2ndLt. Thomas D. Brindley's Navy Cross Citation


2ndLt. Brindley's's name is currently aboard the Stardust spacecraft, launched Feb. 7, 1999, which visited Comet Wild-2 (pronounced Vildt-2) in 2004.  Stardust spacecraft is now returning to planet earth for recovery on 15 January 2006.  You may read more on this project here.


Thomas D. Brindley at 18 years of age was the captain of the
Johnson High School hockey team in St. Paul Minnesota. His
team had won the Minnesota state consolation championship
and Tom tied for the scoring lead for the tournament.  Later,
Tom attended Colorado College where he excelled in hockey
also and majored in economics.  At Colorado College he was
noted as being the biggest defenseman on his school's hockey
team and his weight and aggressiveness made a definite asset
for the team.  He was known for his hard and accurate shots.
