The oilier or tankers would fill us up and then we would fill those around us from our large tanks. I am watching the operation from the flight deck. Note the mattresses lashed to the ship for airing.

Space on ship was at a premium. When the canvas stretched racks were not being used as a bed, they were storage lockers.
